Rambai Fruit Scientifically called as “ Baccaurea motleyana ” .

ORIGIN OF RAMBAI FRUIT
Baccaurea motleyana is a species of fruit tree which grows or native wild in parts of Southeast Asia and is cultivated for its fruit in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. It belongs to the Phyllanthaceae family.

OTHER NAMES OF RAMBAI FRUIT
The Rambai Fruit is called ‘ mootty ’ in Malayalam, mooti pazham or mootil fruit.
Rambai, mafia-farang, ramai, lam-khae, raa-maa tee-ku, pekan, ulup-lavai, bua trai, pekang, ramie, duo mai mu nai guo, menteng, sekoyun, pahae, rambeh, buah jentik and asam lambun.

APPEARANCE OF RAMBAI FRUIT
Rambai fruits are small in size, averaging 2-3 centimeters in diameter, and are oval, round, to oblong in shape, growing along long, slender branches in thick strands.
The skin is firm, semi-thin, easy-to-peel, and depending on the variety, ranges in colour from salmon, brown, to yellow and has a velvety texture.
The ripened Rambai fruits are either rose-red or light yellowish colour.
Within the flesh segments, there are small, flat, brown seeds that are tightly adhered to the flesh.

TASTES OF RAMBAI FRUIT
Rambai fruits are mild and slightly acidic with a sweet-sour flavor.

VARIETIES OF RAMBAI FRUIT
Yellow Rambai and Red Rambai Fruit Plant, its inner flesh is velvety, translucent or purple in colour.

This fruit might seem very small, but it provides a nice boost of vitamin C, potassium, calcium, vitamin B2, magnesium, and phosphorus for our body.
The average weight of this fruit is about 19 grams divided into 5. 5 grams of fruit peel, 12 grams of fruit flesh and 1, 5 grams of Rambai fruit.
Each 100 grams of Rambai fruit contains 82.3 grams of water, 0.4 grams of protein, 7.5 grams of saccharose, 0.2 grams of fibre, and 0.5 grams of ash.
