ORIGIN OF MASAN FRUIT
The species is believed to have originated in Indo-Malaysian region of South-East Asia.
Masan Fruit is a tropical fruit tree species belonging to the family Rhamnaceae.

OTHER NAMES OF MASAN FRUIT
Chinese date, ber, Chinee apple, jujube, Indian plum, Regi pandu, Indian jujube, dunks (in Barbados) and masau (in Zimbabwe).
In the Indian subcontinent, Jujube is known as Ber in Hindi, Regu chettu in Telugu, Ilandai in Tamil, Bore hannu in Kannada and Ajapriya, Kola, Badari in Sanskrit.

• The Masan Fruit is of variable shape and size, can be oval, obovate, oblong or round.
• The Masan Fruit flesh is white , crisp and juicy and has a pleasant aroma.
• The Masan fruit’s skin is smooth, glossy, thin but tight.Fruits are first green, turning yellow as they ripen.
• At first the aroma is apple like and pleasant but it becomes peculiarly musky when overripe.
• There is a single, hard, oval or oblate, rough central stone which contains 2 elliptic, brown seeds, 1/4 in (6mm) long.
