Lemon rice recipe is one among frequently made recipes and also my favorite too ,since it takes very few minutes to prepare the recipe. Lemon rice ( lime rice )with coconut chutney is the best combination.Lemon rice preparation takes about 10 minutes to prepare the lemon paste mixture. i prefer lemon rice not only because of its cooking time but its a healthy recipe too .Combination of Asafoetida powder in the paste will enrich the taste of lemon rice .
Lemon Rice is a traditional south Indian recipe liked by all ages.Lemon rice give us a rich taste of lemon and spices.Asafoetida powder can be used optional here.
South Indian Lemon Rice
Ingredient
- Lemon – 1
- Dry red chilies -3
- Bengal Gram -2 tbsp
- curry leaves- 15
- mustard seed- 1 tbsp
- garlic – 4
- salt – 2 tbsp
- Asafoetida powder – 1 tbsp
- oil – 5 tbsp
How to prepare South Indian Lemon Rice
Squeeze lemon and add salt to the lemon juice. Heat the pan and add cooking oil to the pan. Wait until the oil gets heated evenly.Add mustard seed and wait until the mustard seed get splits .Add Bengal gram and fry the gram light brown.
Add Red chilies,garlic pieces ,curry leaves to the pan.wait until the Ingredient gets fried well in the oil.Add the lemon juice mixed with the salt in the pan.Add turmeric powder to the lemon juice,allow the content to boil well .
Add Asafoetida powder and boil the content until the water gets thick paste. stop heating the pan at this stage.
Add boiled rice to the paste and mix evenly spread on all sides of the lemon riceNote:
- Do not use hot boiled rice as such,allow the rice to cool before mixing with the lemon paste .
- If necessary add water to the lemon juice.
- Do not over heat curry leave and also all the ingredient ,else it will change the taste of lemon rice.
