Origin Of Loquat fruit
The loquat is in the family Rosaceae, and is native to the cooler hill regions of south-central China.
The loquat has been introduced to regions with subtropical to mild temperate climates throughout the world.

Other Names Of Loquat fruit
In Japan the loquat is known as biwa , Japanese medlar,  Japanese plum and Chinese plum, pipa in China, naspli in Malta, nispero in Spain, nespera in Portugal, akidene in Lebanon and nespolo in Italy

Appearance Of Loquat fruit
Loquat fruits, growing in clusters, are oval, rounded or pear-shaped, 3–5 centimeters long, with a smooth or downy, yellow or orange, sometimes red-blushed skin. Each Loquat fruit contains from one to ten ovules, with three to five ovules mature into large brown seeds with different numbers of seeds appearing in each fruit on the same tree.

Taste Of Loquat fruit
Loquats have a sweet tropical-inspired flavour with a citrus, slightly tangy. Loquats is a cross between an apricot, apple, and pineapple.

Varieties Of Loquat fruit
Two groups of Loquats varieties are clearly distinguished.
On the one hand, the Japanese type (also called Japanese plum), having a smaller number of seeds and a paler coloration of the fruit, both of the skin and the pulp, and being of early maturation.
On the other hand, the Chinese have the opposed characteristics, that is to say, greater number of seeds, later harvesting and darker fruit colour.
Other varieties are “Magdall” and ” Golden Nuget” that are worse in taste, but of early maturation.
